About the Artists:
John Hairston, Jr.
John Hairston Jr. has been an artist for as long as he can remember. A North Carolina native, he created art before he could read or write. Throughout his grade school years, he spent the majority of his time drawing superheroes and listening to any old soul or Hip Hop records he could get his hands on. Little did he know that his love for all things spandex-clad and funky would play such a major role in his development as an artist. Under the guidance of his high
school mentors and college professors, he learned to tap into these components to create a style of artwork that seamlessly blends political satire, social commentary and obscure pop-culture references. Hairston graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration and began his career as a professional artist illustrating storyboards for a string of independent films and several television ads. He has done commissioned pieces for numerous art collectors and various non-profit organizations. Hairston’s work is currently on display in various art galleries all over the East Coast and Charlotte, NC.

person. Kayode Photo is presently based in Columbia, SC and specializes in event, lifestyle, portrait, cultural, commercial, and wedding photography. Michael’s photographic persona expresses the many desired emotions and thoughts that are timeless and simply without words—however seen clearly through the eyes of the visual artist.
About the music:
THE Dubber is a Washington,D.C., musician with roots in funk and hip-hop from his years in Los Angeles. His more recent work is anchored in the worldview and sounds of reggae, taking the socio-political side of Bob Marley..The Original Rockstar, baby. In the tradition of the Mississippi Delta Bluesmen, THE Dubber confronts the world with only his words and a guitar. The self- taught singer/songwriter reinvents himself by infusing the styles of a 30 year musical journey. America’s Rock, Jazz and Funk, flavored by the International sounds of Reggae, Middle Eastern and Afro Beat, is the complex stew that helps him express his blues and completes such a distinctive sound.
A native of the Carolinas (born Roger Dale Hawkins Jr. 11/23/1977), Trublklef has been been making music since the age of 5. By 16 he was recording and performing. Drawing from a wide spectrum of musical influences spanning the late 80’s and late 90’s, Trublklef merges the boom bap foundation of Rakim and The Roots with the smoothed out progressivism of Living Legends and Mello Music Group to cultivate his own “Adult-Contemporary/Easy Listening” brand of hip-hop. He currently remains active in the Columbia, SC music and art community.
